Fitzwilliam Museum - Tau O Mai | Journeys with Mai Project

We decided to create an AR experience for the museum exhibiton which is something I thought was a great idea. We had quite a few ideas for what we would actually create in AR and I am glad we all agreed on the one we actually made. Including soundscape and words on the screen was a great idea coming from both Jula and Leela which was nice. My idea to the whole AR experience was to create an incentive to actually get people to try it out and in return once finishing it, recieving digital rewards or tokens which they can then share with friends, showcase on their social media stories or just keep as a memory or souvenir. I thought that idea would be good as it would cost nothing to upkeep as they are digital and this way not only is it attracting people to try the AR experience but also having people be pleased that they tried it in the end by recieving digital "gifts". Everyone enjoyed my idea which, the moment they decided to give me the green light I got to work and it was amazing trying out new things and finding out new methods of creating in Photoshop, truly exprimenting with something I have never created before. A digital reward.

But first for this I had to do some research which I have linked below

Everyone was also tasked with researching into AR as no one knew much about it and the more we knew as a team the better our outcome will end up being. I have researched into the 2 best apps we could potentially use in the moment and future, for the best outcome possible. I have linked the research page below:

After wards I have started to create the digital token. Everything I have done is documented on the Miro Board our team has created.

Personal critical reflection of project:

In my opinion the project went perfectly and just how I was hoping it would go. Since everyone was doing their own part to help bring it to life, it was quite easy as it took a lot of weight off my shoulders as all I had to do is just communicate any issues and just keep working on the things I was tasked to do by Conan. I was very pleased with the team as they were all amazing and helpful. My own work was great and I am glad that I had the teams feedback to base my creations off as good feedback helped shape the digital rewards into what they ended up being. Of course they are not as polished as I wish they would be but they are prototypes we can base the finished products off. I have enjoyed the creation of the rewards as it was something I have never done and they gave me a wider experience into Photoshop and how to create such things. I enjoyed creating the frames as, when designing them I was actually getting live feedback from the team on what does and what does not look good. The end products I ended up creating are actually wonderful with my favorite being the Tau O Mai "Holo" card which Conan actually helped give me the idea for. I knew I wanted a special card but since they're 2D I thought holographic texture wouldn't look that good but after taking in Conan's advice, it actually ended up looking exactly how I imagined it.

I would definitely love to work more with creating digital products like these in the future. Mostly if in a team with such wonderful people like the ones I worked with. There was nothing that I found necessarily challenging or hard as I am quite exprienced with photoshop yet I needed a little help here and there from youtube tutorials which did come in handy but were not for any major changes and only small ones with layering and such.
