Apple Dust
Visiting today from ARU's Global Sustainability Institute was Lara Houston. In todays age fixing modern phones it's near to impossible. And well, Apple? They are quite shady. Their phones seem to be secretly slown down so the newer models can be compared and seem 100x better than they actually are. It's like they seem to be whispering, "Get the fancy iPhone or else you'll be stuck in slow motion!
Recycled technology
Fairphone and Gomi are two companies that I find interesting. They appear to be the tech industry's eco-warriors.
Fairphone 4: Consider that they construct their phones using recycled earth minerals—that is, straight out of Mother Earth's recycling bin. And what do you know? Fairphone has you covered in the event that your phone breaks. They're all like, "Hey, buddy, would you like your phone fixed? A YouTube tutorial and toolkit are provided here. Go crazy!
Fairphone vs. Apple: Apple, now? They're like the evil guys from a super-hero film. Their phones are like puzzles with pieces that are invisible. You have to sell your soul to fix your iPhone if it breaks.
Gomi Speakers: Gomi speakers resemble a sound system from Frankenstein. The electronic components? taken from outdated equipment. What about the the exterior? Be ready—this is a patchwork quilt made out of plastic bags.
