From the FYP to a big celebrity: An Independent Artist Marketing Campaign

Over the last three months, I have been working as not only the digital marketing agency but also as the client, creating a extensive and analytical campaign for my independent artist brand.

The main objective of this project, is to create and test a real-world conversion funnel. I want to test and see whether I could capture organic attention using short form content on platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels and be able to turn passive scrollers into active listeners on Spotify or not. Above, I have attached my original project proposal, where is wrote my initial strategy and target demographics. Below is the final part of the entire campaign which is the finished music video and song release.

I will be showcasing screenshots of real time analytics from Instagram, Tiktok, Youtube, Apple Music, Spotify and A/B testing, and explain the issues I ran into and the solutions I've used to help reach my end goal.

gyo is a 21 year old artist based in Cambridge who makes new-gen rap music. He has gained traction over the years mostly reaching a high number of streams on his song "What Should I Do" which has over 5000 streams as of today. He unfortunately doesn't have a high reach or a very good conversion rate which is why I am helping him with marketing his music and aiming to expand reach both on his social but also streaming platforms.

 

 

Objective

 

To build an organic fanbase and create a conversion funnel from social media/visual platforms (TikTok/Instagram Reels/Youtube) to musical platforms (Spotify/Apple Music).
